"I fear that someone's going to get hurt because we have had some quite violent reactions from people thinking you don't have a right to wield a camera in a public place."
Mike Bowers
Do you take street photgraphy? Do you enjoy grabbing candid moments of anonymous faces as they pass you by? And do you live in Australia? Well, even if you don't, but you take photos in public from time to time for whatever reason, this article from The Sydney Morning Herald makes interesting reading. If you don't live in Au, the points raised regarding the legalities and moralities of taking images of strangers and posting them online is not only timely, but I'd say they are common issues most likely faced in urban areas around the globe.
Sadly, I believe the SMH is now a subscription only service, but if you can't access the story with the above link, here is the door to google's cache of the article

1) I adore your photography , its brilliant.
2) This sneff business, is it your last name or a nick name? (I know that is an odd question, but trust me there is a purpose to it
It's good to see work pictures of places I know and remember for once.
I love it, especially as it's so close to where I work.
I might go and visit the Botanical Gardens in my lunch break.
Thankyou for reminding me that Sydney's the most beautiful city in the world.
